Royal Tombs in Seolleung

When you first hear about Gangnam, I am sure you imagine a fancy district full of celebrities or high-end restaurants and shops. However, there is a hidden tourist attraction in the middle of Gangnam where you can learn a little bit more about Korean history.

The Seolleung Royal Tomb Site is a UNESCO World Heritage site and the burial place of King Seongjong and his wife. You will have a glimpse of what it was like during the Joseon Dinasty without leaving the city.

BEST TIMES TO GO TO GANGNAM (ROYAL TOMBS)

The royal tombs site is open from Tuesday to Sunday but the daily closing time varies depending on the season.

From March to October:
6am – 9pm

From November to February:
6am – 6pm

The entrance fee is only 1,000 won and it is usually visited by locals who want to escape from their busy daily life.

HOW TO GO TO GANGNAM (ROYAL TOMBS)

Walking from the subway station is the easiest way to arrive to the tombs and to avoid the chaotic traffic that you usually find in the Gangnam district.

We suggest the following option:

  • Exit through Exit #10 of Seolleung Station (Subway Line 2 & Bundang Line), turn to your left after 185m, and then walk straight for 130m. It will take you around 5-7 minutes.
