GKS Scholarship 2022: Study in Korea

Interested in pursuing an all-expenses-paid bachelor’s degree in Asia? In Korea?

The Government of the Republic of Korea recently released the information on the GKS (Global Korea Scholarship) undergraduate scholarships from the National Institute for International Education for the year 2022.

This program will provide the opportunity to study to more than 200 international students and for the first time the options of Architecture and Medicine will be able to be chosen by the applicants.

SCHOLARSHIP BENEFITS

  • Airfare (from your home country to Korea and back at the end of the program)
  • 900,000KRW monthly allowance
  • University enrollment
  • Korean classes for 1 year (The monthly scholarship can increase 100,000 KRW if at the end of the year of Korean classes you reach TOPIK level 5 or 6)
  • Health insurance

SCHOLARSHIP REQUIREMENTS

These are some of the requirements to apply to this program:

  • Your grades must be 80% or higher on a 100-point scale or you must be in the top 20% of your class.
  • You must have been born after March 1, 1997.
  • Present a certified copy of your high school degree and original grade record / transcript authenticated by a notary
  • Complete the application form with all your information.
  • Complete the “Personal Statement” essay.
    • In this essay you should write about your achievements and experiences in the past and the reasons why you are applying for the scholarship. (You will find more information about what to write in the application form)
  • Complete the “Study Plan” essay.
    • In this essay you should write about your study plans during your stay in Korea and your plans for the future after graduation. (You will find more information about what to write in the application form)
  • Submit a letter of recommendation from someone who knows you and can describe your strengths and potential in detail.
  • Show a medical certificate showing that you are in good health.
  • You must apply through the Korean Embassy in your country or directly with the university (you can only choose one). You can be disqualified if you apply both ways.

Although it is not mandatory, we recommend that you present a copy of your passport and any type of certificate that may give extra value to your application (e.g Certificate of proficiency in the English or Korean language, award certificates that you have obtained in school, certificates showing that you have volunteered, etc.).

Remember that the certificates must be in English or Korean.

The deadline to apply directly with the universities is October 20.
