Majang Lake: A Serene Escape from Seoul’s Hustle and Bustle

In the midst of our bustling lives in Seoul, the allure of nature called us to take a step back and embrace the tranquility that only the great outdoors can offer. While looking at our instagram feed we stumbled upon the longest pedestrian bridge in Korea. It was the one and only Majang Lake in Paju (파주). With little knowledge of what awaited us, we went on a day trip that would leave us enchanted by Majang Lake’s hidden beauty.

A Pleasant Surprise Awaits

Our journey to Majang Lake began with the excitement of exploration. To our delight, reaching this natural wonder was surprisingly straightforward. As we set foot near the lake, it was an instant revelation—Majang Lake was even more enchanting than we had envisioned.

We walked along the lakeside path, indulging in the picturesque scenery, taking in the tranquil ambiance, and immersing ourselves in the pristine natural surroundings. Our senses were totally heightened as we treated ourselves to the delicious offerings of a renowned cafe nestled by the lakeshore. And of course, our cameras worked tirelessly to capture the essence of this serene oasis.

Best Times to Visit

While Majang Lake’s pedestrian bridge welcomes visitors every day from 9 am to 6 pm, we’d like to share our secret: arriving early, as we did at around 8 am, grants you the gift of a peaceful and crowd-free experience. The early hours allow for unhurried strolls around the lake and uninterrupted photo sessions, creating cherished memories in an idyllic setting. Because trust us, it gets packed!

We chose to visit the lake during the summer months, when sunlight graces the landscape for extended hours. However, we can confidently assert that Majang Lake’s charm extends to all seasons. The allure of spring blossoms and the vibrant hues of fall foliage promise captivating experiences year-round.
